Mountain Biking

Opportunites on the estate range from forestry tracks of all kinds, some fairly tame, some quite rough and steep. And there are a few places for going off-piste altogether, but please do check with us beforehand. Local enthusiasts have in the past built various sections of downhill single-track in estate woodlands, with a wicked array of obstacles and hazards and challenges, which look to me suicidal. They have now fallen into disrepair - anyone up for a bit of course building?

Road Cycling

The estate has some quiet lanes running through it (with some up and down for those who like to punish the body!), and is a good jumping off point for road tours on scenic minor roads, especially west towards Kirkcudbright. We are right on Sustrans Route 7 (the section named Lochs & Glens South).

Bicycle Hire

We now offer some mid-sized adult "hybrid" bikes, mainly for roads but also usable on good forestry tracks. They are not true mountain bikes, as real mountain bikers have their own, and they can be hired locally anyway.
