Loch Ken just north of Castle Douglas has been called one of the prettiest lochs in Scotland. Along its 9 mile ribbon length the landscape changes constantly: marshes, birchwoods, hills, forests, villages, pasture, the old "Paddy Line" rail bridge, etc.
